04.10.2016 - Michele Devetta - Ultrafast Dynamic Imaging of Molecules

I will present the activities of the Ultrafast Dynamic Molecular Imaging Laboratories at CNR­IFN. The laboratories are devoted to high order harmonic spectroscopy and attosecond science, driven by ultrafast few-cycle sources in the IR (1.4 – 2 um). High-order harmonic generation (HHG) has been proven to be a sensitive probe of atomic and molecular structures and dynamics. Recently this research field greatly benefited from the exploitation of driving pulses with wavelength longer than 800 nm that allowed the extension of the harmonic emission to higher photon energies, giving access to several phenomena previously unexplored. I will show two applications of HHG spectroscopy we recently achieved, namely molecular orbital tomography and attosecond probing of electron correlation in xenon.
