The famous stripping reaction K+Br2→KBr+Br serves as an example to demonstrate how the dynamics and the main experimental features of this process presumably change if the collision energy drops from warm to cold and to ultracold. Two recently developed merged beams techniques have the potential to allow experimental studies of neutral reactions in the cold maybe even the ultracold range. They will be discussed in detail.
