This seminar will briefly introduce the role of the "Ombudman" in German universities and research labs, and present guidelines of research integrity as well as case studies of scientific misconduct in physics or chemistry. Related phenomena, such as predatory journals, predatory conferences, or abusive mentoring will be discussed, and ample time will be left for questions from the audience.
